Karma Puja is a festival worshipping the Karma tree, celebrated by youth for prosperity and good fortune.

Karma Puja is celebrated on the 11th day of the bright fortnight in the month of Bhadon (August–September). Young men bring branches of the Karma tree and plant them in the courtyard or the Akhra (village dancing ground). Girls perform fasting and worship around the tree, praying for the well-being of their brothers and for prosperity. Traditional songs (karma songs) are sung throughout the night.
Cultural Significance & Traditions
Karma Puja is celebrated not only by Santali people but also by other Adivasi communities including the Oraon, Munda, and Ho. It symbolizes the bond between siblings and the community's hope for a good harvest.
